Boycott to Get U.S. Out of Iraq...what is best for all children
Join millions of other concerned citizens by boycotting the primary vehicle for propoganda: broadcast news. If that is done, the economic impact will be large enough to create corporate action against the current U.S. policy of remaining in Iraq as foreign occupants.
Protests don’t work. Broadcast media will not cover protests against the continued occupation ot Iraq.
BUT don’t just boycott broadcast news. MORE BOYCOTT
Petition Church Leaders
“The Evangelical German Church was unrivaled in its fervent support of the war effort, justifying the use of military force not only out of loyalty to...nationalistic sentiment, but out of a deep-seated theological conviction that God called the German nation to a special destiny through the elimination of its enemies through war.”
Is this the American Church today? one that believes American Christians are called to “protect” Christianity from Muslims?
In too many churches pastors foster fear of followers of Muhammad with ideas from the radical right. MORE SEND LETTER
Encourage Non-Plastic Packaging of Food and Beverages
We need to reduce consumption of oil, not just because wars are waged for control and possession of oil reserves, but also because the production of oil means that we are reliant upon foreign countries. It isn't enough to get angry or upset about how going to war in Iraq for control of its oil has caused our entire nation to commit collective a collective evil against the people of Iraq (in opposition to Jesus’ command to love our enemies), we need to act on our beliefs. And even if Jesus' words don't resonate with you, it is out of pure self-interest to boycott oil-guzzling products, for these products fuel demand, and demand fuels rising prices. MORE SEND LETTER
Impeach Bush and Cheney
Unless we impeach the current president and vice president, we indicate to the world that we are not serious about removing members of the “America as World Power” cult, and we let this administration off for their collective sins. Write to Nancy Pelosi to indicate your disapproval of her opposition to Congressman Kucinich’s initiative to impeach. MORE SEND LETTER
BIBLE QUOTE (DN 11)
In his place a despicable person will arise, on whom the honor of the kingship has not been conferred, he will come in a time of tranquility and seize the kingdom by intrigue. The overflowing forces will be flooded away before him and shattered, and also the prince of the covenant [Jesus]. After an alliance is made with him he will practice deception, and he will go up and gain power with a small group of people. In a time of tranquility he will the richest parts of the realm, and he will accomplish what his father never did, nor his ancestors; he will distribute plunder, booty and possessions among them, and he will devise schemes against strongholds, but only for a time.
While these passages have been attributed to the reign of Tiberius in the Roman Empire, how chillingly history repeats itself. President Bush arose without the honor of kingship (Gore won the 2000 election by popular vote) during a time of peace in the U.S. and took unprecedented power via the 9/11 events.
Pre-emptive attacks on Afganistan and Iraq military were shattered, along with the command to love your neighbor from Jesus, the prince of the covenant (which includes a commitment to peacemaking).
With an alliance of a handful of world powers (Britain, Italy, Australia, etc.) Bush gained power with a small group of businessmen who gained booty (Haliburton, Blackwater, etc.). Bush continues to devise schemes against strongholds (Iran, Syria) and we pray it is only for a time.
